چکیده

The first FUV (λλ 1350–1750Å) spectral imaging observations of the Eridanus superbubble, obtained with the SPEAR/FIMS mission, have revealed distinct fluorescent emission from molecular hydrogen. In this study, the observed emission features were compared with those from a photo-dissociation region model with assumed illuminating stellar fields. The result showed rather high line ratios of I1580/I1610, which may imply the existence of high-temperature molecular clouds in the region. The H2 fluorescence intensity showed a proportional correlation with H-α emission, indicating that the fluorescence and the recombination emission have similar physical origins. Triggered Star Formation on the Border of the Orion-eridanus Superbubble

A census of classical T Tauri stars and Herbig Ae/Be stars has been performed around the Orion-Eridanus Superbubble which is ionized and created by the Ori OB1 association. This sample is used to study the spatial distribution of newborn stars, hence the recent star formation sequence, in the region that includes two giant molecular clouds (Orion A and B) and additional smaller clouds (NGC 2149...

Star Formation in the Orion-monoceros Complex

Pre-main sequence stars in the Orion-Monoceros Complex are either distributed in groups closed associated with dense cores, or dispersed along molecular filaments. Some molecular clouds are apparently affected by the OrionEridanus Superbubble created by the Wolf-Rayet winds and supernovae from the OriOB1 association, whose shock fronts compressed and triggered starbirth in adjacent molecular cl...

The Orion Gamma-ray emission and the Orion-Eridanus bubble

We review the implications of the gamma-ray emission detected by COMPTEL in Orion, assuming that it is due to energetic particle (EP) interactions within the Orion clouds. We show that a series of independent arguments converge toward a model in which the EPs originate from the Orion-Eridanus bubble, located in front of the molecular cloud complex. We investigate in detail the question of energ...

Orion’s Superbubble

We review the characteristics of the Orion/Eridanus bubble, its relationship to the Orion OB association, and the molecular clouds in the region. We discuss the relationship of the Orion region to other nearby OB associations and cloud complexes including the Gould’s Belt system of stars and Lindblad’s Ring of gas. Gravitational fragmentation and collapse of the walls of old supershells natural...

NICMOS Imaging of Molecular Hydrogen Emission in Seyfert Galaxies

We present NICMOS imaging of broad band and molecular hydrogen emission in Seyfert galaxies. In 6/10 Seyferts we detect resolved or extended emission in the 1-0 S(1)λ2.121μm or 1-0 S(3)λ1.9570μm molecular hydrogen lines. We did not detect emission in the most distant galaxy or in the 2 Seyfert 1 galaxies in our sample because of the luminosity of the nuclear point sources. In NGC 5643, NGC 2110...
